While Risa, Connor, and Lev are out in a random neighborhood after acquiring supplies from an unassuming resident of said neighborhood, they hear the cries of a baby. The baby's cries ring out just at the same moment that a school bus appears. Risa's original plan was for the three escapees to board the bus in order to appear as normal teenagers instead of Unwinds on the run from the authorities. Connor, however, cannot bear to leave the baby behind and chooses to take charge of the poor infant. Risa reluctantly pretends to be the infant's mother with Connor and Lev adopting the guises as the infant's father and brother, respectively.

After boarding the school bus, Risa meets Alexis, a teenage mother herself. Alex is happy to meet a fellow teen mother, and Risa pretends to be happy as well. However, she is actually infuriated by Connor's decision to assume responsibility of the baby.

Despite the fact that she initially didn't want the baby, she actually grows attached the child while it is under her care. Also, when a kind woman later takes the child in, Risa is left with a feeling of emptiness. In summation, Risa reluctantly assumes responsibility for the child initially, but she eventually becomes attached to the child. This notion is realized when the baby is taken out of Risa's care and placed into a nice home.
