At the meeting that happens at Paul's house, Paul and his family learn several things. One thing that they learn is that the neighborhood is upset about Mr. Donnelly's lightning rods. The homeowner's association gave him permission to install a lightning rod on his roof, but Mr. Donnelly went ahead and installed ten lightning rods on his roof. People are upset that it looks like "hell."

The next thing that Paul learns is that the fish population in the neighborhood pond is down to zero fish. Nobody knows why all of the koi are gone, but there is suspicion that the fish are being stolen. Paul does not think that is right. He is confident that the fish are being hunted by the osprey population.

The third thing that Paul learns about is additional details about the muck fires. He learns that people are upset about the muck fires, but ultimately nothing can be done about them. The neighborhood has reached out to several different experts for various options, but none of them have worked. The neighborhood even tried to flood the fires out, but the fires continued to burn. Unfortunately the flooded field turned into a man made swamp , and the area is now infested with disease carrying mosquitoes. The solution to that problem is to have a truck spray the entire neighborhood every few days with a powerful pesticide. Kids are not allowed outside on those days.

The final thing that Paul learns is that the sheriff's department has assigned a specific investigator to figure out what is happening with the recent robberies.
