Ponyboy doesn't participate in all of the activities that other greasers prefer. Ponyboy likes going to movies and watching sunsets; he loves to read and runs track at school. Most of the other greasers enjoy more unlawful pursuits.

... we steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while.

Darry mostly works, but he participates in the occasional rumble in support of his brothers. Soda likes to drag race and dance, and he often double-dates with his pal, Steve Randle. Soda's best friend, Steve likes to steal hubcaps. He works with Soda at the DX gas station, and "knew cars upside-down and backwards." Two-Bit Mathews prefers shoplifting, and he loves to produce his beloved switchblade. He also "liked fights, blondes, and for some unfathomable reason, school." Dallas Winston loves horses, and he "rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kids--he did everything." Johnny, the pet of the group, usually tags along whenever he can.

Everyone in the gang of Greasers likes different things. They usually sneak in the movies without paying. They play football in the front yard a lot. Ponyboy is very serious in school and likes to read and study while enjoying sunsets.
