I'm glad that I am able to provide this information for you since I am proud to share William Shakespeare's apparent birthday--and date of death--of April 23rd, which is also St. George's Day. There is no absulute proof that Shakespeare was born on this date since there is no offical record of his birth (birth certificates were not produced at this time). However, official records of the day do record his baptismal date as April 26, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, and it was customary to hold the baptism on the third day after the birth; though the third day following a birth was the most common day for a baptism, it was not set in stone, but it is almost certain that Shakespeare was born sometime in April. The date of April 23 became the most accepted date through the centuries in part because
this date provides a convenient symmetry because Shakespeare died on the same day in 1616. It is also the Feast Day of Saint George, the patron saint of England, which might seem appropriate for England's greatest playwright.
It is 23rd April, 1564.
