My son has an English project. In a shoe box, he needes to place items that represents characteristics of Horatio from Shakespeare's Hamlet. For example, my son could use a ghost because Horatio is one of the persons who saw the ghost. What could my son use to show Horatio's characteristics of loyalty, trustworthy, cautious, etc ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could also include books to illustrate how the other sentinels and Hamlet consider Horatio to be a scholarly individual.
Perhaps a trophy with "Trustworthy" on the brass explanation plate. Hamlet trusts Horatio with his inner-most fears and also with his plan to "act" crazy.
Fun project! Good Luck!
What a great project! I think I would start with the idea that the name Horatio comes from the word orator. At the end of the play, Hamlet wants Horatio to stay alive so he can speak the truth about what happened at Elsinore. A few notecards could exemplify his speaking ability. I think a pair of glasses could be used to show how Horatio seems to see thinks clearly. In fact he warns Hamlet not to talk to the ghost and also watches Claudius' reaction to the play,"The Murder of Gonzago". Horatio was also a great listener so a pair of earphones could symbolize that quality. Finally, either a picture frame of a picture of two friends could symbolize the true friendship between Hamlet and Horatio.
