What are the core principles of andragogy?
The key principles of andragogy, the process of adult learning, were outlined by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles in 1984. Andragogy espouses that adult learners benefit on a higher level from having the teacher take on the role of facilitator of hands on learning experiences instead of more passive learning such as the lecturer/note taker roles.
Adult learners benefit from being part of the decision making process of choosing what to learn and how to assess what is internalized. Adult learners may benefit when failure is allowed to be part of the learning process. Mature learners benefit the most from subjects and experiences that quickly have an influence on their work or life situation. Their learning should be more experiential than the pedagogy of content based learning used in regular education and it should include problem-solving.
Since your assignment asks for an outline a bulleted or numbered list could be used on your PowerPoint slide.
