In the nature vs. nuture debate, identical twins reared apart help to establish how strong a connection there is between certain traits and genetics. When reared apart, twins, who share the same genes, but who have experienced a different environment, offer a unique opportunity to see how important heredity is in the expression of various traits. Two twins, Jim Springer and Jim Lewis were separated at birth and reunited at age 39. It was amazing that both married women with the same name, divorced and married again to women who shared the same name yet again. They each named their sons James Allan and James Alan! It was found from study called the Minnesota Study of Identical Twins Reared Apart, that most medical and psychological traits have a strong genetic component.
