Communication control is the ability to manage how a message is disseminated or presented. Communication can take many forms and formats and could be verbal, non-verbal or written. Controlling the communication means that the communicator is aware of the appropriate format and who the message needs to be sent to, as well as how they want it to be received.

In communication, perception and reception are paramount and this is why controls are in place to ensure that messages get to the right people at the right time and that they are received in the manner in which they were intended.
