What are the classes of English Hierarchy?
The monarchy is the highest ranking class in English nobility. The King and Queen are the highest ranked, followed by princes and princesses, who are the sons and daughters of the King and Queen. These are all inherited titles.
Below the monarchy there are five degrees of English nobility, called the British Peerage:
Marquis or Marquess/Marchioness
The Peerage titles can only be inherited, not bought or given. Under the peerage there are Life Peerage, Baronet, and Knights. Then there are Feudal Barons and Lords of the Manor, two titles that can be bought.
