What are characteristics of the captain I can use to portray a theme of killing isn't easy? Any quotes?
This is not an easy question to answer, since Captain Torres seems to thoroughly enjoy his work. Hanging and torturing his rebel captors and using the bodies for target practice seem to please him. But at the beginning of "Just Lather, That's All," we know that Torres has been spending the past few days in the hot sun, hunting rebels deep in the jungle.
I estimated he had a four-day beard... His face seemed reddened, burned by the sun.
It is not easy work, hunting the rebels, and though he may enjoy the upcoming public spectacle of more executions, the captain is very tired. He closes his eyes "with a gesture of fatigue." But his work is not over.
With his eyes closed, be continued. "Without any effort I could go straight to sleep," he said, "but there's plenty to do this afternoon."
