Global warming, or more precisely, global climate change is affected by many factors, some human and some natural.
The single most important factor in global climate change is the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere due primarily to two things, deforestation (decreasing the amount of vegetation able to remove CO2 from the atmosphere) and the use of fossil fuels.
Normally, the side of the earth illuminated by the sun absorbs solar energy, and then as that side rotates away from the sun at local night, radiates that energy back into space. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide act like the glass of a greenhouse in letting sunlight enter into the earth’s atmosphere but blocking its ability to escape at night as infra red radiation.
