Like what reasons caused religon to decline and not be the central focus. I need this for my analysis on an essay and i can't think of the reasons.

Essentially, what you are asking here is why the Renaissance happened -- why did humanism take hold and why did people stop looking to God and the Church as the central focus of their lives.  Historians have looked at many reasons for this huge change.

The most immediate reason for this was the collapse of feudalism.  In the feudal system, society was structured by obligations that bound people to those above and below them.  It was a very conservative system that did not allow for much change in a person's status.

Feudalism started to die largely because a big middle class started to arise due to trading.  These people did not fit in to the feudal system -- they had no place in it.  But they had money and the feudal lords needed money and this gave the middle class power.

The fall of feudalism radically changed the social structure and, it is argued, allowed people more freedom.  This freedom led them to be more likely to focus on themselves rather than on the Church.
