There really is only one building to speak of in the story. When Rainsford washes up on the shore of Ship Trap Island he is lost in the dark and following the sounds of gunfire when he rounds a corner and sees what he thinks is a village because of all the lights. As he nears the lights he sees that it isn't a village, but just one huge building. Connell describes is as,

 "a lofty structure with pointed towers plunging upward into the gloom. . . it was set high on a bluff, and on three sides of it cliffs dived down. . ."

Rainsford approaches the tall iron gates and thinks for a moment that a "palatial chateau" this size must be a mirage given his location in the world. This mansion is fancy, expensively decorated, and offers one all the creature comforts of the civilized world.
