There are an infinite number of values on the number line between `1/3` and ```1/4` .``

One way to find a value between is to write equivalent fractions using a common denominator.

Because the least common multiple of the denominators is 12 I could write equivalent fractions for `1/3` and `1/4` . However this will only give me `4/12` and `3/12` , which it would still be hard to pick a value as 3 and 4 are consecutive integers.

If you use a common denominator of 24, this would mean:

`1/3=8/24` and `1/4=6/24` . Therefore you can now see that the value of `7/24` is between these given 2 values.

Another way would be to find the average of the 2.

`(1/3+1/4)/2` = `(4/12+3/12)/2` = `(7/12)/2` = `7/12 • 1/2` = `7/24`
