Olive oil is obtained from olive paste, which is the milled state olives are in after being cut up. The olives stone is removed, leaving pieces of olive, which are packed into an olive press. Olive oil is removed by pressing the paste and squeezing the oil out of it. Olive oil is a monounsaturated fat which is generally considered better for human consumption than corn oil or vegetable oil. As far as the skin is concerned, olive oil makes an excellent lip balm when combined with beeswax. Olive oil also has important moisturizing qualities that are considered viable and important in the dermatology department. Cremes and lotions that have olive oil in them are great for soothing dry, itchy skin. They are also good for minimizing the effects of wrinkled skin, primarily by causing the skin to retain water content, giving it a fuller, more youthful appearance.
