A dictionary's guide words appear at the top corners of a dictionary page.  The top left guide word alerts a user to the first word appearing on the page in alphabetical order.  The top right word alerts the user to the last word appearing on the page in alphabetical order.

So for player --- print, you need to list a word that would be alphabetically listed in between those two words.  For example: "plot."  "Prance" also works.

For record ----- ridge, you need to do the same thing.  "Red" is a good choice. "Rice" is another possibility.

Tuesday ----- useless would lead to possibilities like "turn," "tourniquet," "under," or "uniform."

The best thing to do for additional words is to consult an actual dictionary, because then you could physically see exactly how many possible words come between the guide words listed.

Dictionaries can be great resources in locating basic guide words for the words that you need to know more about, if you are referring to print dictionaries. The layout of dictionaries as the ones most of us use online nowadays, do not necessarily have these basic guide words for us to follow.

For this example using a print dictionary seems to be a great reference tool for locating the words to guide you in completing your exercise.

This gives you a chance to visit your school or public library. The librarians there are sure to point you in the direction of ready reference where you can peruse several different dictionaries to find exactly what you're looking for. Now you can use the one works best for you.

Words are arranged in the dictionary in alphabetical order with the the first word of on the page listed on the top left corner and the last word on the page listed on the top right corner. Therefore, any word that falls alphabetically between the words in the corners (called guide words) would be on that page. For instance, the word please is alphabetically between the guide words player and print, so it would be found on that page. Likewise, a basic word found on the page with the guide words record and ridge would be rib. The word under would be on the page with the guide words Tues. and useless.
