The AXE telephone exchange is manufactured by Ericsson. It is a line of products of circuit switched digital telephone exchanges. AXE is the acronym for Automatic Cross-Connection Equipment and was first set up in 1976.
The AXE system has a dual processor system, both of which run together so that even if one of them fails there is no disruption of services. The latest model of the AXE has a capacity of 8 million subscribers. The system handles all kinds of landline and mobile telephone networks like GSM, CDMA and international telephony traffic.
