The area of a triangle with sides 3 cm, 4 cm and 8 cm has to be determined.

Before you start look at the sides of the triangle that are given. In any triangle the sum of the length of any two sides should be greater than the third side.

It should be noted that 3 + 4  = 7 < 8.

This makes it impossible to have a triangle with the given sides.
