What are some good thesis statements for writing an essay based on Wuthering Heights? Please give as many examples as possible.

I came up with some simple theses such as "Heathcliff is an example of a Byronic hero" or "Wuthering Heights being one of the main settings, it represents Heathcliff and Catherine's wild nature and personalities," but I wasn't sure if they were good and strong enough as a possible thesis.

The two statements provided concisely convey two of the novel's themes so they offer a solid basis from which to develop a thesis statement. A thesis is an argument. It needs to state clearly a point of view that the author will then support with evidence.

The first possible direction you offer indicates that you see Heathcliff as the center of the novel. If that is the case, you will want to build your argument around the author's characterization. In what ways does Bronte show that he is heroic? That is, given all his bad behavior, what positive qualities does she offer?

The second option is complex, as you emphasize both the centrality of the two characters' relationship and its wildness, and then add the third factor of the place's significance. It will probably be challenging to write an essay that effectively addresses all these aspects. You might consider concentrating on wildness, such as with a thesis indicating that it is the quality that both joins the two characters but makes their ongoing relationship impossible. There is ample evidence to draw on to support such a thesis.

Both of those are really good theses!~as long as you can back up your thesis with ample textual evidence and page numbers, according to the assignment you have, of course. Find a theme that you really understand and run with that. It sounds like you have a couple of great ideas.  Here are a few themes that you could also explore: Revenge, women in a male-dominated/social-status-climbing society, anger, and the notion of marriage and love relationships in the story and during the time period. There's also the crossing of physical (metaphysical) worlds as Heathcliff "sees" Catherine as a ghost. How does the supernatural play a part in the story, for example. Courage is also a good theme to discuss. Who shows courage throughout the story and who is a coward? I would say that even though Linton isn't much of a fighter, he's the calm and steady rock that Catherine needed in her life and that took a lot of courage to live with her and her demons.
