What are some examples of prose poems?

One particularly concise and clear example of a prose poem is Amy Lowell's "Bath." It is condensed and short, like a poem, and full of visual imagery and figurative language. It also contains a number of musical devices and rhetorical pauses that, when read aloud, make it sound like a poem as well. You might also read "Metals Metals" by Russell Edson.

A prose poem is a prose text that possesses many of the hallmarks of poetry, or verse, such as length and intensity, figurative language, and even rhythm. It's somewhere between prose and free verse. The text can be long or short, and the writing flows continuously from one line to the next like prose typically does—rather than in shorter lines that are more associated with verse—and it can be divided into paragraphs. One example of a prose poem is Amy Lowell's "Bath." In this prose poem, the speaker describes a beautiful spring day, where the air is full of the scent of flowers, and the sun shines brightly in to her bathroom window. It colors the water in the tub and makes it look like "a jewel." As the speaker moves her body through the water in the bathtub, she notes the movements and play of the spots of light on its surface. The prose poem is full of vivid visual imagery and several examples of figurative language—simile, personification, metaphor—and it is relatively short for a prose piece. Try reading it aloud, and you will hear how it even sounds more like verse, with many rhetorical pauses created by the punctuation and the use of musical devices such as rhyme and assonance.

"Metals Metals" by Russell Edson is another example of a prose poem. It employs apostrophe, musical devices, personification, and more.
