What are some characteristics of David that Christians today should emulate? Why?
From a young age, David knew that God could triumph over any giant in life. When he faced Goliath, the Philistine scoffed at him because he was such a young boy. But David never wavered in his confidence that God could help him be victorious under seemingly impossible circumstances. He asserts,
You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. (1 Samuel 17:45-46)
When enemies closed rank and the situation seemed an impossible feat, David relied on God for deliverance, acknowledging His power through the battle.
