What are some arguments for why the federalists were right and the antifederalists were wrong about the Constitution? I have a debateĀ about federalists vs antifederalists, and I am a federalist.

The primary argument that the Federalists could use was that the Articles of Confederation were unworkable when it came to keeping the United States solvent. This was apparent with Shay's Rebellion when veterans of the Revolutionary War were in revolt because they were going to lose their farms. The Continental dollar was worthless, and the United States could not get any outside financial backing without looking like a good investment. Under the Articles, the new nation did not look like something that was going to last. By creating a national government that had the power of taxation, the United States could at least pay its bills.

Another argument that you could use was that the world in the late 1790s was quite dangerous for a new nation. The United States needed a strong military because it could not count on its future opposition only being Indians on the frontier. The Federalists believed in a strong national military over the state militias favored by the Anti-Federalists. You...
