What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a member of a tight-knit family and the citizen of a very small community?

Well I think it depends if you are talking personally or about the story itself. Personally, I think that the advactages of being part of a close-knit family are pretty clear: you always have someone who believes in you, people are willing to make sacrifices for you, you always have someone to talk to. The disadvactage is that it can be incredibly smothering. The same can be said for a very small knit community, both in the pros and the cons.

WIthin the structure of the story, one of the disadvantages that i see, is that no one has an individual identity. You know people only as Mama and Pappa-daddy, that can be very frustrating if you 're an individual. As shown by Stella-Ronda, if people turn against you in a small community or a tight nit family, you often times have no where to go.
