The logo of the Adidas company, if seen from the correct angle, represents that of a mountain.  The ascendancy of such a height becomes progressively greater in difficulty (the increasing length of the stripes) until the summit, representing the apex of individual achievement.  Presumably, these summits for athletes and those engaged in athletic contests can be reached with the greatness of human endeavor, supported by the use of the Adidas shoe.  With such support, the thinking goes, all challenge and obstacles can be overcome with the strength of individuality.  The logo itself has undergone some changes over time.  In the 1970's, the logo was a trefoil logo, a flower like shape with the varying lines at its base.  The company went back to the image of the three lines in the mid 1990's.
