We are making a soundtrack for The Outsiders and I need help. What songs would be fitting? Please make sure that it has significence. It can explain any scene.

I have these:

  • "Superman," by Five for Fighting" (perfect for Dallas Winston)
  • "When You're Gone," by Avril Lavigne
  • "Uptown Girl," by Billy Joel (for Cherry)

 ANYTHING ELSE!?

I think you are off to a good start with your selections. I especially like "Uptown Girl"--it would be a good song to describe Pony's feelings for Cherry. I suggest you view Francis Ford Coppola's film version of The Outsiders: I always thought that "Gloria" was a great selection, and it is the song I think of first when I watch the movie. The Stevie Wonder song, written specifically for the soundtrack, should probably also be included in your own version. Be sure to add a few classic tracks--the story does take place during the mid- to late-'Sixties. I could probably see The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" or "Gimme Shelter" as background music for the rumble. Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell wrote a popular '80s song called "Go for a Soda" that might serve as an intro to Sodapop. And a Beach Boys song might be appropriate for a scene involving a Mustang or Cherry's Corvette.
