In 2008, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, followed by various other prestigious fiction awards and acknowledgements, including the John Sargent Sr. First Novel Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction.
