Your first step would be to look at the FAA website. It is filled with amazing information about becoming a pilot.
There are a few things that you need to consider when thinking about becoming a pilot. First, what kinds of planes would you like to fly? Second, in what function do you wish to fly?
Once these questions are answered, you can narrow your focus and options. If you are looking to be a pilot, you need to find a school which specializes in pilot training (most colleges and universities do not offer pilot training (they may only offer a flight class as part of an aviation curriculum)--you must go to a specialized school). (You can find this information by doing a search on local pilot training in your area.) Please note, pilot training can be very expensive.
If you do not think that you will be able to afford the training, another option is enrollment in the military. All branches of the military have pilot training programs. That being said, these programs are very competitive and rigorous. If the branch you are interested in does not find your strengths lie with flying, chances are you will not go into pilot programs.
I really hope this helps! Good luck with your search and let the sky be your limit.
