Considering Wallace to be a mother less child, the one who has always been under a strict guardian obeying rules and regulations throughout his life, the door offers him an entirely different world. It is not only a retreat from his mundane life but a complete new meaning of life that he explores which is filled with love, passion, fun, happiness, beauty and youthful desires which make him want to live more. Thus, after his first experience to the garden he starts longing for the life which the garden offers to him.
