America's Most Wanted is an American show with a goal of finding criminals who have evaded the law. To gain information as to the possible whereabouts of these criminals, the show uses the following information according to their website.

1. Statistical information regarding trends and patterns of criminal behavior in the areas that are being investigated. Such information comes straight from the police department.

2. Face to face interviews with the victims and family members of the victims, witnesses, and other people who call the police and the show to give leads. Many leads, however, are also received by e-mail, letters, or phone calls for fear of retribution.

3. The show does not show the use of questionnaires, but it is assumed safely that these questionnaires are often given to witnesses to declare what they saw, when, and where. Also, questionnaires might be given to people who claim to have a lead in order to consider whether their testimony is valid or not.

4. Participant and Non participant observation is not as evident as face to face interviews. Its arguable that observations to take place behind closed doors in the police department as the leads come in, but in the show these procedures are not observed as much.
