Is it true that drinking water can help you lose weight?

You statement is absolutely true, especially if you drink water instead of other high calorie drinks like juices, sodas, and sports drinks.  When people look at their caloric intake closely, many realize they drink up to a third of their calories a day.  Drinking at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day instead of high calorie drinks will cause you to lose weight very quickly.  Of course, if you are exercising or in heat you will need more than eight glasses.  In addition, drinking water will help flush out fluid retaining sodium from your system. 

Drinking water alone isn't the only answer to a weight loss program, but it is a great beginning step and you will feel much healthier as well.
