There is an office building with 91 stories. The building has a staircase which averages 22 steps for each story.

How many steps would you climb to get to the 91st story?

Once you get there, you are 1285 feet off the ground. How many floors are below you, and how tall is each floor?

How tall is each individual stair?

Assuming that the ground floor is the first floor, to reach the 91st floor requires going up 90 sets of stairs.

(1) Since each story averages 22 steps, and we are going up 90 stories, we will climb (22)(90)=1980 steps.

(2) On the 91st floor, there are 90 floors beneath us, Since we are 1285 feet off of the ground, each story averages 1285 divided by 90 or approximately 14.3 feet.

(3) We traversed 1980 stairs and covered 1285 feet. Each step is 1285 divided by 1980 or approximately .65 feet or 7.8 inches.

Question Part 1:-

There is an office building with 91 stories. The building has a staircase which averages 22 steps for each story.

How many steps would you climb to get to the 91st story?

Solution:-

Stories in a building (Assuming ground floor as first floor) = 90

Staircase (Steps per story) = 22

Total how many steps in the building = ?

Solved:-

Total steps in the building = Total Stories x Steps per story

                                      = 90 x 22

                                      = 1980

Hence There are total 1980 steps to the 91st floor in the building....

Hence Solved....

Question Part 2:-

Once you get there, you are 1285 feet off the ground. How many floors are below you, and how tall is each floor?

How tall is each individual stair?

Solution:-

Building Measured = 1285 feet

Total number of floors = 90 floors

Total number of stairs in a single floor = ?

How tall is each floor = ?

How tall is each stair = ?

Solved:-

How tall is each Floor = Total feet of Building / Total number of floors

                               = 1285 / 90

                               = 14.28 feet

Hence Each floor height is 14.28 feet.....

Height of stair = Height of each floor / Number of steps in a floor

                     = 14.28 / 22

                     = 0.66 feet

Hence the height of each stair is 0.66 per feet approximately...

Hence Solved....

1. To find out how many stairs there are, you'd simply multiply the number of stories (90) by the average number of stairs for each story (22). This gives you about 1,980 stairs.

2. There will be 90 floors below you so each floor would be approximately 14.27 feet tall (1,285 / 90).

3. Each step would be about .66 feet tall because we are 1,285 feet in the air and went up 1,980 stairs (1,285 / 1,980).
