Both of the previous posts offer excellent suggestions. Most high schools do not teach specific software applications, preferring to cover the standard subjects (reading, writing and 'rithmetic and their more modern titles) instead. Today's youth are computer savvy, and things such as web design and more advanced aps (for example Photoshop, Illustrator) would be great learning experiences while preparing students for computer technology careers where jobs are actually plentiful.

It is important that technology has the right support.  If something breaks, it will just sit around.  You really have to have some way to fix it.  Technology is great, but to really be effective and truly transform learning it has to be operational.

One practical way to use techonology in the classroom is to "teach it". Offering courses in computer and software programming is useful, challenging, and applicable professionally. As software becomes increasingly present in life and business, programming becomes a more widely applicable skill.
