How do care delivery teams reduce costs?
Where do savings occur?
Wouldn’t it be more cost effective to assign patients to one individual as opposed to a team of (high paid) care providers?

The best way for care delivery teams to reduce costs is by improving processes, productivity and efficiency. More efficient processes lead to greater productivity and greater cost reduction, as fewer resources are required in order to get higher returns. For example an improvement in workforce scheduling to ensure that there is no over-staffing would lead to cost savings in payroll. An improvement in patient care processes could lead to less wait times and reduced patient turnover which translates into greater profits.
In regards to assigning patients to individuals rather than a team, it would not be cost effective because the team functions as a single unit much like an assembly line. Every member of the team has their specific function, purpose and speciality. It is much quicker and efficient and the unit can work through more patients than a single person could. It would also be impractical to assign every patient a single individual due to workforce and scheduling limitations.
