I surf the web quite regularly, and while I use it to keep up on world events and to work, as well as communicate on social networking sites, it's mostly a time waster/vehicle for entertainment. It replaces television or radio in some respects. There is certainly every bit as much dreck and useless websites on the internet as there are shows and opinions on television and radio. This is just the latest medium for such things.
The internet has made life in may ways much simpler. If we need information on anything it can be looked on the internet right from the comfort of our own homes.
It can also be dangerous though. For example, there are child predators who use the internet to find victims and there are people who steal money using the internet as well. It is very important to be very careful.
Surfing the internet has in a sense put the world at our finger tips. By the same token it has opened our homes to criminals such as internet scam artists, pedophiles, predators, hackers, and etc. Be very careful of where you go and whom you talk to while surfing.
Surfing the internet can be a fun pastime or it can be with a specific purpose in mind. We have to be careful to only log into secure sites, however, because harmful viruses and malware can be transmitted to our computers. Also, we don't want to give sensitive personal or financial information to just anybody.
Surfing Internet with consideration is helpful. To be effective in surfing web, you have to pre-determine what you do want to search for. Ask for others' helps about good websites related to what you are caring about.
