My own view of the proper relationships between men and women is simple: men and women should be equal in all aspects of their relationships. I do not believe in separate roles for the sexes in their relationships.
Many people believe that men and women should play different roles in their relationships. Some feel that men should be in charge in relationships. Others feel that things should be more equal but that women should be more oriented toward taking care of children and doing housework. I reject these ideas.
I do not believe that men and women are inherently different and that they should necessarily play different roles in all relationships. Instead, I believe that each couple should determine what is best for their relationship. There will be couples where the man is more suited to making major decisions and being in charge, but there will also be couples where the woman is a better fit for that role. There will be couples where the woman is more suited to stay home with the children but there will also be couples where it is the man who should do that.
In short, I do not believe that men and women should play set roles. Instead, each couple should evaluate their own needs and decide what role should be played by each sex. Men and women should be equal and should see themselves as individuals, not as representatives of their sexes.
