Jones and his other friends, Mr. Pilkington and Mr. Frederick were concerned about the developments on the farm after the rebellion. For a time things were accepted but then the humans decided they needed to put down the rebellion, but the animals were prepared for them.
The first assault was met by the pigeons and the geese, who were then joined by Snowball and the sheep but the humans appeared to prevail and then moved forward confidently.
But once they had entered the yard, the pigs, sheep, horses and cows attacked ferociously and though one sheep was killed by Jones' gun, one young stable boy was killed by Boxer's hooves and the men were terrified and fled before the onslaught of the animals.
