Snowball's Exile in Animal Farm

I know I asked this before, but I don't get what the question is asking. I just want to know what the question is asking.

I want to know why Orwell alters the chronology of events concerning Snowball in 1984.  What might be some possible reasons?

I think what your question is asking is why were the events concerning Snowball's participation in the various events of the revolution and the defense of the farm against the humans later changed by Napoleon and Squealer.  Is that correct?

This is Orwell's way of showing what political propaganda can do.  The animals knew they remembered certain things, like Snowball fighting ferociously FOR the animals against the humans, but after being told, or "reminded" as to the "real" events (according to Squealer), they all began to doubt their memories.  They had been told over and over and over again how smart the pigs were and how the pigs had Animal Farm's best interests at heart.  So when the pigs say, "Oh, no, you're remembering the events incorrectly - Snowball actually attacked US and was a secret agent for the humans," etc., etc., then the other animals began to doubt their own memories.

So it's not that Orwell changed the events of the book.  Instead, Napoleon and Squealer changed the events of Animal Farm's short history and brainwashed the other animals into further blind submission to the pigs and the dogs.
