I agree with number 2. Why do we always try to help the needy in other countries and not our own? It's because we don't want to accept the fact that some people in our country live in conditions worse than some in third world countries. We need to wake up and accept the fact that we are not taking care of our children.

There are many starving and suffering children right here in the US. I do hate to see anyone suffer regardless of their location. 20% of US children live in poverty. http://www.nccp.org/topics/childpoverty.html

I've worked with some very malnourished children here, and it's all more common than many people may think. Many other countries are much worse off though and I believe that the US as well as many other wealthy countries can provide some assistance.
