Should Marijuana bE Legalized?

Should it be legalized? Should there be a limit on the amount of marijuana purchased?

I personally believe it should not be legalized due to the hazards effects it has on public health. I think the argument only stems from addicts or even "moderate users" complaining about laws inflicted because of the use of marijuana. A good amount of my friends disagree. How about you?

I can't make an educated argument on whether its legalization would make marijuana more or less harmful for society than it already is.  I will say this however.  In all the research papers I've read about legalizing it (which is truly the extent of my interest in the subject), the most compelling argument this: in addition to alcohol, both cigarettes and many prescription drugs are highly addictive and exceedingly harmful when abused.  Yet, alcohol, cigarettes and many prescription pain-killers are currently legal and marijuana is not.

I do not think marijuana should be legal, but then I don't think alcohol should be legal.

If alcohol is legal, marijuana should be too.  Alcohol is no less harmful than marijuana and so I think that they should be treated the same.  I think it is wrong to use either of them, so I think they should be treated equally.

Marijuana has medical purposes and is natural. I know that's been said a lot but its true. Marijuana should not be compared to alcohol or cigarettes. I understand that everyone has an opinion on drugs, legal or illegal. But if you don't do drugs, it should not matter to you if using them is legal (my opinion).

It takes an objective point of view to determine what laws govern citizen's choices. Opinions are subjective. How people feel about marijuana is not going to determine whether it is legalized. Bottom line, it's a product that would be hard to tax because the market would be  nearly impossible to regulate. When our government comes up with a satisfying solution, marijuana will be legalized nationwide.

Well it is a source for medicinal purpose, but marijuana has bad sides in this area too. I say this because chemist and doctors haven't been able to zero in on  and isolate the chemicals in marijuana that are good for people who lack appetite because of their ailment.
