Ans: Goldsmith’s ‘She Stoops to Conquer’ is ,in spite of having some farcical situations, a true comedy, an anti-sentimental comedy. Farce is mainly comprises improbable situations and laughter is aroused from incongruities. It is quite improbable that Hastings and Marlow would mistake a respectable house for an inn, and consider Mr. Hardcastle as the inn-keeper.Besides, Marlow would fail to recognize Kate Hardcastle when she reappears in the guise of bar-maid.But with theses improbable and other laughing scenes Goldsmith has made this play full of wit, humour and intellect.Hence, it may be considered a true comed
