One of the key changes that our universe is experiencing, is expansion. Our universe is expanding, which means, each celestial body is moving away from others. The key evidence to support this is the Red Shift of celestial bodies. A change in sound spectrum or light spectrum is either blue shifted or red shifted. When a sound source or light source moves towards us, its waves are compressed and in case of light, shifts to the blue end of spectrum (and hence the blue shift). If, on the other hand, a light source moves away from us, the waves shift to lower frequency (or higher wavelength)- which is towards red; and hence the term Red shift. It has been observed that almost all the light sources in our universe, when observed from earth, exhibit a red shift in the spectrum. And this proves that our universe is expanding.
Hope this helps.
