Hey, thanks everyone or helping me with my thesis statements and what i should include in my essay yesterday and today. My topic, for the new posters is, i have to write a research paper on censership of the book in different places. Now, i have to write a 3 page paper on this topic. It has to be Times New Roman 12 point font and SINGLE spaced!!!!. i can barely get 3 pages double spaced. Im going to be in deep trouble because 3 is the minumin and everyone else will probablky have 4+. I am posting this because i know you guys are very good at this subject and can really help me get the ball rolling. My question to you is, What should i put in my introduction and what should some of my paragraphs be about????? THANKS ENOTES EDITORS!!!!!!
You may also want to include some discussion of the plot of the novel. Doing so would allow anyone to read your paper and make sense of it without having to know the novel intimately already. Discussing the plot may also allow you to point out the various ironies about a book dealing with censorship being censored.
My suggestion was that you should discuss the issue and talk about how you feel about it. Perhaps to get a longer paper you could start by talking about the circumstances in which you think books should or should not be banned. You could talk about the general rules that you think should be in place. Then you can apply them to this specific book. By laying out general rules and then discussing them in the context of the book you could stretch your paper a bit.
I suggest that you examine the different reasons the novel has been banned in different areas. You can support each reason by noting why the area banned the novel. If you separate the country by regions, you can dedicate different sections of your essay by regional area and reasons for banning.
Organizing your essay into sections which each have their own focus will help you get to three pages. For instance, you can write one section on why the book was banned in Mississippi and dedicate three paragraphs to that subject.
Another three paragraphs can be dedicated to another example of where (and wh)y the book was banned.
Allowing for several paragraphs for introduction, transitions, and conclusion, you will only need three or four sub-sections in your essay to reach three pages, so reaching the desired minimum won't be a problem.
If you select a number of examples to address in your essay and analyze those examples first, coming up with a connecting thesis can be your next step.
