There will be many different answers here. However, one entrepreneur from Pakistan that is intriguing to me would be Mian Amer Mahmood.
Mahmood sought to create colleges and universities that would offer high caliber instruction to middle class students. Mahmood understood that this would be a creative approach to solving the education gap between the wealthy and the less-wealthy. His initiative is evident in the number of colleges across Pakistan today that are open to students who otherwise might not have been able to afford them. The Punjab Group of Colleges is one of the largest associations of universities in Pakistan, testament to its success.
The expansion of education to more people reflects economic growth. While the economic future cannot be predicted, people will need to be educated. Future employment sectors have not even been envisioned or created. Mahmood understands that education is the only constant in a world where value is shifting. In a nation that struggles with huge disparities of wealth and so many living in poverty, Mahmood's approach to delivering education to more people helps in the general development of society. One of the most important messages from his life would be the value of education. Another important message from his life would be how one has some obligation to their roots. Mahmood could have settled elsewhere, but he has made Lahore his home, the home of his childhood. Another lesson would in the nobility in charity. Mahmood's philanthropic ventures have sought to provide free education to those in need. This extends to girls as well. Mahmood has donated money to the establishment of schooling for girls. This helps to establish another message out of his life in that education is for everyone. In a part of the world where gender disparities in education are stark, Mahmood is driven to ensure that this gap is reduced. Finally, Mahmood believes in the power of globalization. As Mayor of Lahore, Mahmood established "twin cities" initiatives between Glasgow and Chicago.
