Do you mean English as a first language or as a second language. The books would be quite different. For English as a first language, try searching for comprehension information. For English as a second language, try using TOEFL.
Some alternative search terms might be "multiple intelligences" or "Gardner's Multiple Intelligences" . Gardner did losts of research on this in the early 80's, and he's still considered one of the experts on this. E-notes has some helpful information at the following link.
Ah, I think I understand a bit better now. Thank you for clarifying. We do know that students learn differently. For example, some students are auditory learners, and they learn best by hearing. Visual learners are able to see material and understand it. Those who like the hands-on approach are tactile or kinesthetic learners. And there are plenty of different models and names for various learning and teaching approaches. The key words I would use to research are "learning styles." Your question is quite confusing. If I understand you correctly, you’re writing a research paper on how well students understand in their English classes? That just doesn’t seem like a very researchable subject to me unless you issue questionnaires or conduct some other kind of individual survey. It just doesn’t seem very measurable to me—what is a consistent way for students to measure their own understanding in different classrooms with different assignments? Perhaps you should rethink your topic. What are the most effective ways to teach and learn English? What are the common struggles students have when learning English? At least those kinds of things are more researchable, though they may not be what you’re looking for. If you’d like to reshape or even change your topic, perhaps you’d get more help. Please also make sure your question is written correctly so there can be no misunderstanding about your meaning. Best of luck.

Auntlori , its about leaning process i mean how students can get what the teacher is saying? how many type of learners we have? what ways do we have to cope with the students? deffinintions of learning? ........... etc.
