What is the main meaning for the Declaration of Arms (1775)?
This declaration was published in a magazine in England in 1775. It was written as a way of justifying the fact that the American colonists had started fighting against the British (the fighting had started, but the colonies had not yet declared independence).
The declaration was also meant to try to convince the British that it would not be worth their while to oppose American efforts to get more autonomy.
At the same time, it tries to get the people of England to feel friendly towards the Americans. It emphasizes how the Americans are fellow subjects of the King and how they wish to remain so.
