In chapter 14 of "Bless Me, Ultima," Samuel speaks these words to Andrew when referring to Tenorio and Narciso who fought the night before. Andrew dismisses the men as mere drunks who act like women and whose behavior need not be given any attention. Samuel disagrees and foreshadows more violence between the two. The insightful boy has been told of vengence that resides in the blood of men, and he believes that, although Tenorio and Narciso are both flawed in terms of what a man should be, they are still capable of "manly" behavior.
