Remember that a "dynamic" character is one who undergoes significant change during the course of a narrative.

Paul does not fit this criteria. He remains innocent from beginning to end, wanting to help his parents and relieve the tension in the home cause by their poverty. His innocence will eventually mean his death. He never realizes that it is not his job to provide for the family, he accepts that they simply has "no luck."
