`Ax+By=C` , it is in an equation of straight line because both

power of x and power of y are one. However in some text book the standard form of line is `Ax+By+C=0` .So you can ref you text book.

I consider your equation `Ax+By=C`

Transfer x term from left to right.

`By=-Ax+C` ,

`y=(-A/B)+C/B` (i)

which is now in form of slope intercept form

`y=mx+c` (ii)

compare equations (i) and (ii),you will get

slope=m=`(-A/B)` and

intercept `c=C/B` .

solpe is negative or positive ,it depend on sign of A and B

1. A is positive and B is negative then slope m >0.

2. A is negative and B is positive then slope m >0

i.e. if A and B are opposite in sign then slope will positive.

if A and B are of same sign then slope will negative.

It will cross y axis at (0,`C/B` ).
