Like any other industry, the dairy industry too has its pros and cons. It is one of the few industries where a person can earn revenues every day, because new (or fresh) product is ready every day. Dairy cattle also, generally, generate higher revenues than beef cattle. Inclement weather, especially warm summers, may actually be beneficial to dairy farmers. The dairy market has always been there and is actually increasing due to its popularity among both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
On the flip side, the farming business is very labor intensive and not a lot of people would consider this as a serious profession. It requires a large and secluded area, regular care of cattle including feeding and milking, etc. Dairy cattle are also vulnerable to a number of infections and diseases. Also, cattle can generate useful products for only a part of their life cycle.
