The story is mostly told in flashback, and the plot is a little convoluted.  We do learn that the family was a bit messed up, and this caused a suicide.  The suicide was related to a mother's mental breakdown, because her children were sent away to live with their grandmother where they were in turn abused.

how about the theme of dysfunctional family? is that theme can influence Veronica's psychological condition? as like she get halucination or something?
